Handmade double circle Ego-Self Axis Jungian psychology Charm Necklace available in sterling silver version and brass-silver mixed metal version. You can choose the charm and chain finish to make it your very own necklace.


This conceptual necklace represents an idea of our psychic function called the "Ego-Self Axis".

Ego-Self Axis was first proposed by Erich Neuman who studied under Carl Gustav Jung. Edward Edinger's book "Ego and Archetype" popularised this idea further that symbolically, we have an axis in our psyche to connect our Ego and Self. Jung believed that we are born as a whole when we are born. In other words, your Ego-Self axis isn't disconnected. As we develop our Ego and gain life experiences, this important connection gets separated.

Once Ego-Self Separation happened, it's likely that in your mid-age, your psyche would call you to get Ego and Self to be united again. In Jungian analysis, this Ego-Self Union is part of the Individuation process. It's not an easy ride however, you will find your life more meaningful.

I wanted to create a symbolic necklace that introduces Jung's idea and helps you visualise what is happening in people's psyches through Jungian lends. I hope you like the concept of this necklace.

Little Info about the charms

The necklace chain options are sterling silver and gold-filled. Please note that when you choose the mixed metal version, the brass charms come in a high polished golden colour but they will get oxidised. If you enjoy the effect of the oxidisation, please choose a mixed metal finish. If you prefer the metals as shiny as possible, I would recommend you to get the sterling silver version.

- 2.5cm diameter, 2mm thickness raw brass or sterling silver large circle charm
-1cm diameter, 1mm thickness small circle charm in brass or silver
-1cm, 3mm thickness rectangle sterling silver charm

Chains - 45cm and 50cm come with dainty sterling silver or gold-filled chains. longer than 50cm in length, I will use sterling silver or gold plated Rolo chains.
