Sterling Silver Penrose Triangle Necklace: Optical Illusion Jewelry

The Penrose triangle aka the impossible triangle mathematical necklace comes with a choice of sterling silver or solid bronze finish.

This optical illusion triangle was first created by the Swedish artist Oscar Reutersvärd. Then it was popularised by an English mathematician Roger Penrose whose family also had a family relationship with MC Escher.

It was believed that an optical illusion consisting of an object which can be depicted in a perspective drawing but cannot exist as a solid object yet here it is, the famous impossible tribar is available in a solid object and can be enjoyed the illusion right in front of your eyes.

I love creating meaningful jewellery. I watched a documentary program about Escher painting presented by Prof Roger Penrose. I got so inspired by how Escher was a mathematician although he had never studied to be a mathematician. I also loved Penrose's perspective view of Escher's art. So I came up with the idea of creating a mathematical piece of jewellery and the Penrose / Impossible triangle necklace is the first one to present!
